Hollyoaks star Amanda Clapham has predicted a "really interesting journey" ahead for her character Holly Cunningham in the aftermath of her rape ordeal with Nick Savage.

Holly was left traumatised when her boyfriend Nick forced himself on her in May and we'll see the storyline subtly revisited in next week's Ibiza episodes.

While Holly enjoys her chance to relax and have some fun on her girlie holiday, she's suddenly far less comfortable when Brody Hudson arrives on the scene.

Ellie Nightingale – who was also raped by Nick last year – is open to some flirting with the new hunk on the scene, but for Holly the bad memories of her last relationship are much too recent.

Amanda told Digital Spy: "Jaws drop when they first see Brody coming out of the water. Holly is slightly more worried about Ellie's reaction because Ellie is ready to look at another guy, so our reactions are different.

"There's a bit of tension when Brody arrives. Holly notices Ellie has taken a liking to him but Holly is like: 'This is a girls' holiday'.

"She's not in the place to think about boys because she isn't ready. She struggles with the fact that Ellie is, so she tries to cling onto Ellie a little bit."

Asked whether this mistrust of men could be a longer-term storyline for Holly, Amanda replied: "I think it might be. She's had a few boyfriends before and it's not something she's ever really struggled with.

"I think now it's that she doesn't know who to trust. She wonders if all boys are the same and if it's going to happen again. It's not something she can control, either. I think it's going to be a really interesting journey for Holly."

In light of the big reveal that the Cunninghams' new lodger Milo Entwistle has a sinister back tattoo, we also had to ask Amanda whether Holly should be worried about him.

She told us: "I don't know too much about Milo yet, because I've only filmed a little bit with him so far. It's been fairly light-hearted and comedy-based so far. There may be a slightly dark side to him.

"There's some stuff I know so I don't want to give a theory away on what's going on, because it might be influenced by what I know. So I'm going to stay tight-lipped on that one! Nathan Morris who plays him is lovely – very witty."

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
