Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn shows off hair transformation

Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn is celebrating turning 40 in style, as she's shown off a brand new look to mark the occasion.

The actress, who has played Mandy Richardson in the soap since 1996, shared a photo of her hair transformation with her Instagram followers, revealing a new long bob, or 'lob'.

"Birthday celebrations begin this evening (2 weeks early) starting with a new do @calumtierney @terencepaulhairdressing and a birthday meal @piccolinohale
Bring it on!" she wrote.

Sarah Jayne received plenty of compliments on her new look, including from her Hollyoaks co-stars.

Juliet Nightingale actress Niamh Blackshaw commented: "Omg love it!!!!!" while Donna-Marie Quinn star Lucy-Jo Hudson wrote: "Wow" with a fire emoji.

Former Hollyoaks stars were loving Sarah Jayne's new look too, with Ali Bastian (Becca Dean) commenting "Beautiful!!! Love it!!!!" and Jodi Albert (Debbie Dean) calling her new look "Gorgeous".

The actress has been busy at work lately playing out Mandy's latest troubles, with her character having endured a very tough year so far.

As 2021 began, Mandy had to deal with finding out that her daughter, Ella Richardson (Erin Palmer), had killed drug dealer Jordan Price (Connor Calland), with Ella later being sent to a youth offenders' centre.

After Ella's return to the village on a home care order, she decided to run away after an argument with Mandy and then declared that she didn't want to live with her mum anymore.

Mandy has also suffered the breakdown of her relationship with Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson), just months after marrying him, while she recently faced saying goodbye to the restaurant she co-owns, The Hutch.

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
