Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn says Mandy's story was changed after lockdown

From Digital Spy

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks star Sarah Jayne Dunn has revealed that Mandy Richardson's story was changed earlier in the year.

The Channel 4 soap was forced to halt filming along with the rest of the television industry back in March due to the UK lockdown.

Speaking on Digital Spy's Soap Scoop podcast, Sarah exclusively reveals that she had scripts prior to this that all had to be scrapped.

"The writers have been working non-stop trying to bridge the gaps," she explained. "We lost about four months of filming and the show went down to two episodes a week on air. That managed to pull things out a bit which was great and elongated the time we had on screen.

"But other than that, they've just had to bridge the gap. We did lose a couple of storylines. I had scripts just before we went into lockdown and everything in those scripts basically went."

"There have just had to be amendments and tweaks. It's been a challenge to know and tell the story and still get to that point where viewers saw last year – New Year's Eve 2020. I think it's really worked.

"Also, I think the audience will be quite forgiving of every show at the moment because everyone knows what we've been through and what we're still going through. I think it still really works, and it's made it slightly more interesting actually because of the way it's had to be told now."
