Hollyoaks star Gregory Finnegan has teased how his character James Nightingale will react to the news that Harry Thompson is dead.

The Channel 4 soap's autumn trailer recently confirmed that Goldie McQueen will soon discover Harry's corpse, in a turn of events sure to push his former love James over the edge.

Chatting to Inside Soap, Finnegan was quizzed on how James will respond to the news – given that things ended so badly between himself and Harry.

"When he finds out that someone was responsible for Harry's death, it'll have a huge effect on him," the actor said. "But he'll leave no stone unturned to find out the truth."

That's definitely bad news for Harry's killer Breda McQueen, who is also currently holding Harry's father Tony Hutchinson hostage after stabbing him.

Upcoming episodes will also see James set up on a blind date, but Finnegan is unsure whether his character will be getting over Harry anytime soon.

"In a kind of bizarre and unhealthy way, yes [Harry was the love of his life]," Finnegan admitted. "It started to go down a really bad road towards the end, but when Harry eventually does turn up dead, the guilt of the final weeks they had together is really going to hit James hard.

"He loved Harry, but as ever with James, he found it hard to show it the right way."

Hollyoaks airs Mondays through Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
