Hollyoaks aired the tense aftermath of Amy Barnes's death on E4 tonight (March 28), with three popular characters all lying to protect Ste Hay.

Ste has emerged as the early prime suspect for Amy's murder (although fans have their doubts!), as he suffered a blackout and can't remember what he was doing when she died.

Tuesday's E4 episode saw Tony and Diane Hutchinson find a confused and disorientated Ste in their shower, immediately spotting his cut hand and blood on the floor outside.

When Harry arrived to face Ste, Diane and Tony headed out to give the pair time to fix their troubled relationship – but they were soon shocked by the tragic news that Ryan Knight had found Amy dead at their flat.

Under pressure to reveal Ste's whereabouts, Tony and Diane both lied that they hadn't seen him all night and kept very quiet about all his suspicious behaviour.

Not long afterwards, DS Armstrong and other police officers turned up at Tony and Diane's flat and questioned where Ste was at midnight, prompting Harry to jump in and lie for his boyfriend by claiming they'd been together all night.

Has Harry just saved Ste's skin, or could he have made matters a whole lot worse in the long-run by lying?

Hollyoaks continues to explore the mystery all this week, but in true soap style, there'll be a while to wait until we find out who did kill Amy.

Earlier today, we revealed that Hollyoaks is filming seven different endings to the storyline, which will see Ste, Ryan, Harry, James, Mercedes, DS Armstrong and a final mystery character all in the frame.
