Ste Hay has once again been betrayed while trying to escape the far-right group in Hollyoaks.

Ste (Kieron Richardson) has become isolated inside Stuart Sumner's (Chris Simmons) faction in recent weeks, while plotting to escape with the help of Leela (Kirsty-Leigh Porter), Azim Desai (Nav Sidhu) and Prevent.

The group seemingly caught onto his plan earlier this week when Stuart's son Sid Sumner (Billy Price) caught Ste trying to get to a secret meeting with Prevent.

In Thursday's (November 14) first-look episode on E4, Jonny Baxter (Ray Quinn) tried to convince Ste that he was desperate to leave the group after following his stabbing in the gang fight.

"I do want out," he begged. "I want to get as far away from Stuart as possible."

Ste was conflicted over whether to help his former friend, but was encouraged not to let him in on the escape plan by Azim.

The situation grew more tense between Stuart and Jonny throughout the half-hour, with the group's leader angrily demanding that Jonny burn all of his clothes from the gang fight.

This left Jonny alone with Ste, where he broke down into tears and begged Ste to help get him out.

"I helped Stuart split you apart from everything you loved, and Harry. I wouldn't even let you say goodbye," he confessed, later begging, "But there's a way we can fix this. Just tell me what your plan is and we can get away!"

Ste finally cracked, telling Jonny he'd been stealing money from Stuart to be able to survive once he left with the help of the Prevent group.

"We're going to have to lie to Stuart's face, so can you do that for me?" Ste asked, with Jonny agreeing.

Later at the house, Ste ran into Azim while they were putting out the bins. After assuring Ste that there was still hope of escaping the group, the two shared a romantic kiss.

This romantic moment was soon shattered when a furious Stuart demanded Ste come back to the house, but he quickly made an excuse to go upstairs.

As soon as he was out of earshot, Jonny told Stuart that Ste "fell for it", especially after Stuart stabbed him to make their plot extra convincing.

"It's time to shut him up… for good," Stuart warned.

Thursday's cliffhanger is set to kick off a murderous kidnapping plan by Stuart, which culminates in Friday's one-hour special featuring cast exits.
