Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks has confirmed full details of the show's dramatic return, which will include a surprise time jump.
When the Channel 4 soap makes its comeback next week, a number of the villagers are seen facing police interrogation after a shock crime on Mitchell Deveraux and Scott Drinkwell's wedding day.
Scott (Ross Adams) will be among the characters seen in a police interview room, recounting the events of the day that took place months prior.
Diane Hutchinson (Alex Fletcher), Felix Westwood (Richard Blackwood), Walter Deveraux (Trevor A. Toussaint) and Martine Deveraux (Kéllé Bryan) are also facing questions from the police.
With plenty of mystery surrounding what the characters are talking about, Hollyoaks then flashes back to the day of the wedding to fill us in.
The episodes airing on Monday, September 7, Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 are filled with flashback scenes – filmed in March before the UK lockdown – which show what happened at the wedding.
The day starts off on a sour note as Walter refuses to accept that his grandson will be marrying a man, after Toby (Bobby Gordon) spitefully revealed the wedding plans to him.
Scott and Walter argue over the situation, while Mitchell (Imran Adams) starts to get cold feet at the last minute.
Toby is pleased that his trouble-making tactics seem to have paid off, but Celeste (Andrea Ali) no longer seems on-board with the revenge plans and helps Mitchell to make amends with Scott.
Toby is annoyed at Celeste for straying from their mission – not willing to forgive and forget so easily.
Later, the grooms and the guests arrive at the wedding venue. Mitchell and Scott are assigned the room number 13 at the hotel, which could be a tell-tale sign that their wedding is cursed.
Back in the village, Walter has a heart-to-heart with Joel Dexter, who urges him to put his beliefs aside and attend the wedding.
When Scott and Mitchell walk down the aisle together, Walter turns up just in time. One of the other triplets then reacts badly – annoyed that Mitchell seems to be getting his happy ending again.
As the party gets started that evening, Mitchell discovers that Toby tried to sabotage the wedding, which causes another argument.
Mitchell goes for a lie down after the day's stressful events, just as one of the siblings sneaks into Room 13 with a plan in mind.
Soon afterwards, Mitchell is nowhere to be seen when Damon Kinsella announces the first dance at the party.
At the same time, one of the triplets is horrified to discover that there has been a disastrous mix-up.
Before long, a cover-up begins to keep the truth under wraps – but what exactly has happened and who has something major to hide?
Hollyoaks makes its return on Monday, September 7 at 6.30pm on Channel 4. The next episode then airs at 7pm on E4 that evening.
