Hollyoaks spoilers follow.
Hollyoaks' Toby Faroe has come very close to losing control once again in tonight's scenes, as he confronts Joel Dexter over his kiss with Cleo McQueen.
Joel and Cleo (real-life couple Rory Douglas-Speed and Nadine Mulkerrin) recently shared a kiss, but with Cleo currently in a relationship with Toby Faroe (Bobby Gordon), it wasn't long before the secret got out.
In tonight's (August 31) first-look episode, Joel questioned Cleo's relationship with Toby – while also making it very clear that he still had feelings for her himself.
"That was the good thing about you and me, we could talk about anything – there was never any secrets," Joel told her.
"Toby and me don't have any secrets from each other," Cleo insisted.
"You haven't told him about the kiss yet, have you?" he replied. "If your relationship is as open and honest as you say it is, why haven't you told him? Because, no offence, but it's obvious your relationship isn't as solid as you say it is."
Faced with Joel's questions, Cleo insisted that she would tell Toby about their kiss, but later, when faced with an opportunity to come clean to Toby, Cleo changed her mind and kept her recent kiss with Joel a secret for a little bit longer, instead telling Toby that his granddad Walter was struggling following his attack.
"You really shouldn't be keeping this type of stuff from me," Toby told Cleo. "Why didn't you tell me earlier?"
Joel, meanwhile, was left unaware that Cleo's plans had changed, so after he overheard Cleo and Toby's conversation, he jumped in to apologise to Toby for kissing his girlfriend.
"You and Cleo kissed?" an angry Toby demanded.
As Joel and Toby began circling each other in the garage, it looked like Toby was in danger of losing control again, but Cleo soon walked past the scene and interrupted the pair's fight before apologising for the way he found out about the kiss.
"I'll admit that the kiss did mess with my head and I questioned my feelings," Cleo told both men. "But standing here right now in front of you both, I know exactly who I want."
After Cleo told Joel that he was in her past, and not her future, Cleo then turned to Toby and admitted that she was scared she'd lose him if she told him about the kiss.
"I know I've hurt you, but please hear me out," she pleaded.
Later, Cleo and Toby shared a heart to heart in the village, where Cleo insisted that the kiss gave her clarity, and she only wants to be with Toby.
"You really hurt me, Cleo," he told her, while Cleo insisted that she would win his trust back as the couple promised that there would be no more secrets between them from now on.
