Hollyoaks unveils new direction for Sid after his return from the dead

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks' Sid Sumner will explore a surprising new career interest next week.

This is a welcome change for Sid (Billy Price) after he recently made a shocking return to Cheshire after faking his own death as part of the County Lines storyline.

Sid will be forced to think about his future when Nancy assigns him and Juliet an essay about their post-school ambitions. Overwhelmed by the thought of it all, Sid downplays his interests and says that he just wants to have a normal life, but Imran, Juliet and Courtney encourage Sid to realise his potential.

After thinking it over, Sid realises that he wants to be a police officer.

Eventually, Sid confides in his teacher Courtney about his interest of joining the police, but he admits that he's worried about what people will think of his choice.

Sid is pleasantly surprised when he hands in his assignment and sees how supportive everyone is. Afterwards, Courtney asks Sid to speak about County Lines at an online panel discussion.

When Sid takes part in the panel, it starts off really well and seems like a big confidence booster. However, when the conversation turns to Sid's disability and someone asks him about his amputation, Sid doesn't want to discuss it and leaves abruptly.

When Courtney asks Sid about what happened during the panel, he explains that his disability makes him feel like a failure.

Determined to help Sid realise his capabilities, Courtney surprises Sid with a one-to-one meeting with DS Cohen. The pair will chat about Sid's future hopes and plans to join the police force.

Hollyoaks airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, April 19 at 6.30pm on Channel 4.
