Saoirse Ronan has gushed over her new husband, following their private Edinburgh wedding earlier this year.

The four-time Oscar nominee married the Scottish actor in the capital this summer, after first meeting on the set of Mary Queen of Scots in 2018. Ronan, 30, stars in the upcoming film The Outrun, which she co-produced with her husband.

While many separate their work lives from their relationship the actress says working with her partner is a "bonus", reports Cork Live. She said: "When you have a personal relationship with someone and you're in the same field, you respect one another and you've got the same taste and you expect the best from yourself, to have that other person there believing in you - but also pushing you [to do well] - is great."

She told Patrick Kielty on Raidió Teilifís Éireann's Late Late Show that Jack "was my eyes and ears,"

"When I was on set he could keep an eye on what I was doing because so much of it was improv. To have Jack there to say, 'You're going down the right path,' or 'Don't do that,' it was great because I completely trust him. It was a great experience."

Saoirse plays a Scottish woman from Orkney in The Outrun and admits her husband was brutally honest when it came to giving her advice on how to do the accent.

She added: "His accent is very different to the Orcadian accent, which is almost like a Geordie Nordic accent, it's mad. I tried it with the dialect coach. I thought it was going well, she left and he was like, 'You're not doing that are you?'. It's very difficult to nail that accent."

Saoirse recently bought a €650,000 home in West Cork, which she is planning to knock and replace with a new build overlooking Roaringwater Bay.
