Hollywood star Luke Evans to switch on Christmas lights in Somerset town tonight
Hollywood star Luke Evans will be switching on the Christmas lights in a Somerset town tonight, it has been revealed.
The news was announced on the Love Yeovil Facebook page late on Friday night. The post said that the Beauty and the Beast star would attend the event as the guest of honour at the event in Yeovil this evening (November 16).
The Christmas lights switch on is happening at the Quedam Shopping Centre in the town. The lights switch on is scheduled for 6.30pm, however the party is kicking off at 3pm with entertainment for the family with stilt walkers and balloon twisters at the centre.

The Love Yeovil Facebook post states: "Exciting Announcement. We are absolutely thrilled to reveal that Hollywood star Luke Evans will be turning on Yeovil’s Christmas lights this year.
"The star of Beauty and the Beast, Murder Mystery, The Hobbit, and so many more incredible films will join us for this magical evening. This is a truly special moment for Yeovil, and we feel so privileged to welcome such an iconic talent to our town.
"Join us for all the festive fun and see Luke Evans turn on the lights at 6.30pm on Saturday November 16 2024, at the Quedam Shopping Centre, Yeovil– it’s a Christmas Lights Switch On you won’t want to miss.
"Let’s give Luke the warmest Yeovil welcome and make this a night to remember. Funded by Yeovil Town Council."
And whilst there was some speculation the announcement could be fake, with some asking why Luke Evans would be in Yeovil. It actually looks like The Hobbit star is in town for the Yeovil Literary Festival. He will be on stage later tonight (Saturday, November 16) after the switch-on to discuss his autobiography titled 'Boy from the Valleys'.
