On May 2, thousands of Hollywood writers went on strike, demanding higher pay. NBC reports that the strike, which has brought television production to a halt, comes after negotiations failed to avoid the first walkout in over 15 years. According to the board of directors for the Writers Guild of America, unionized scribes are facing an "existential crisis".
