Holt and Yardley are stars of the show in Elworth's NSSCL Division Two victory

Elworth seconds produced a superb batting performance to win at home against Wedgwood in NSSCL Division Two.

The Cheshire hosts were set 206 for victory - and lost just one wicket in knocking off the runs in a mere 27 overs.

James Holt top-scored with an unbeaten 82, which contained 11 fours and one six, while Matthew Yardley made 77 not out, hitting nine fours and three maximums in the process.

Earlier in the day, Rizwan Ramzan and Hasnain Mazhar both compiled half-centuries in Wedgwood’s 205-4 from their 40 overs.

Ramzan hit eight boundaries and one maximum in his 68, with Mazhar’s 51 featuring four fours and two sixes.

Ramzan Mohammed (32no) and Usman Saleem (31) also played their part with the bat for Wedgwood.

Mike Holt was the pick of the Elworth attack, finishing with 3-44.

Meakins seconds were also in fine fettle with the bat as they ended their campaign with a two-wicket home triumph over promoted Stafford.

Stafford took first use at Ivy House Road and piled up 254-5 on the back of Hareen Buddila’s century.

Buddila made 102 in just 68 balls, striking 17 fours and three sixes.

He received valuable support from Robert James (29), Ashley Lunn (25) and Guy Seaton (23). Chathura Gunathilaka picked up a couple of wickets.

Meakins then rose to the challenge superbly after the interval to reach their target with four balls to spare.

Shafique Hussain was at the forefront of that chase, making 93. That innings included 10 fours and five sixes.

Andy Reed (26), Callum Wilshaw (24) and Martin Lawton (21) also impressed, before Simon Baker (30no) finished off matters.

Rishi Harish scooped 3-40 and there were a couple of scalps apiece for Matthew Turner and Seaton.

Champions Checkley seconds easily beat their Audley counterparts.

Visitors Checkley virtually settled the destination of the points by half-time as they amassed 261-9.

Elliot Boardwell top-scored with 73, which contained 11 fours, with Peter Appelboam (45), Matthew Woodford (34) and Ben Haslegrave (27) also keeping the scoreboard ticking over.

Clint Thankachan picked up 3-23 for Audley, with Thomas Mason claiming a double.

Audley were dismissed for just 93 in reply, despite Muhammad Ismail compiling 42.

Jack Ashton scooped 4-33 and the other wickets were shared by Niall Lovatt, Dan Amos and Appelboam.

Ben Jarvis was in sparkling form with the ball to set up Crewe’s home victory over Longton seconds.

Jarvis took a hat-trick on his way to figures of 5-40 as Longton were bowled out for 186. Luke Woodward made 64, hitting six boundaries and two sixes, with Elliot Wright (35) and Tom Saji (28) also in decent nick.

Lewis Bacon then dominated the Crewe response with a quickfire ton.

Bacon needed a mere 81 balls to make 122, hitting 17 fours and four sixes, to steer the Cheshire hosts to a four-wicket success.

Calum Meakin lent support with 27, while James Degg helped himself to 4-53.

Sandyford made home advantage count to see off Moddershall & Oulton thirds.

Isaac Foster struck nine fours and four sixes in his 106, while Jamie Oakley weighed in with 64, to power Sandyford to 234-6. Sadeeptha Jayathilaka took a couple of wickets.

Ravi Lindamulage replied with 54, with Uchitha Jayawickrama (37) and Ishara Weerasinghe (30) also making starts.

However, Oakley’s 4-16 and 3-22 from Joe Warrilow left the visitors all out for 157.

There was better news for Moddershall & Oulton seconds, who defeated Little Stoke.

The Modd hosts reached 176-8 from their 40 overs, thanks to Rory Jones’ 50 and 29 not out from Tom Phillips. Shazad Liaqat, Joseph Evans and Arris Ziad all picked up a couple of scalps.

Little Stoke tumbled to 26-6 in their run chase before James Ecclestone led their recovery.

Ecclestone hit 65, which included seven fours and four sixes, while Nikita Sayer added 28.

But it wasn’t enough to seal a remarkable win as Oliver Palmer’s 4-21 and double strikes from Dan Colclough and Jones saw the visitors bowled out for 155.
