Holy Refurb, Batman! Dark Knight Fan Turns Spare Room Into A Batcave

Where does he get those wonderful toys?

Oh, that’s easy; from his tool box.

A Batman superman has spent 18 months converting his spare bedroom into a Batcave, and all for a cost of just £100.

Sculptor Darren Wilson, 46, from Calne, Wiltshire, has a £15,000 collection of comics and memorabilia and wanted a suitable home to stash it in.

He spent weekends and evenings renovating the spare room, painting it in six shades of grey and fitting wooden joists and mesh to hold ‘stalactites’ made from paper mâché.

He said his wife Catherine, 45, supported his decision to turn the room into Bruce Wayne’s secret lair.

“I was doing the room as a computer room initially and it just came to me,” he said.

“People who see it are pretty amazed. We like to be different, but every other room is normal.

“It’s always nice and tidy in there with the effects of the rocks and granite just making a big talking point.

“It was a lot of hard work.”

Mr Wilson has been collecting Batman memorabilia since the 1989 film and his collection includes thousands of DC Comics.

“Batman is only human not like the other superheroes so you can relate to him and he still manages to come out on top,” he said.

He and his wife, a graphic designer, use the Batcave as a computer room.

“It was partly her idea,” he said. “But I’ve promised I won’t decorate any more rooms.”
