With Home Alone popping up on TV over the Christmas TV season, the McCallister family residence is finding itself being scrutinised by a number of fans – and they've noticed something quite weird about it.

Starring Macaulay Culkin in the role that cemented his place in pop culture forever, Home Alone follows eight-year-old Kevin McCallister as he protects his house from a pair of hapless burglars when he's accidentally left behind during Christmas.

But in amongst all of this wacky entertainment, the house decor is something to really take a look at – especially considering that it's pretty much only based around the two most Christmassy colours out there: red and green.

The new scrutiny on the McCallister house comes after senior editor at CNET, Claire Reilly, posted a variety of stills from the film on her Twitter page to point out that the very, very Christmassy theme of the house decor goes way beyond the typical festive decorations.

She wrote: "Can we talk about the McAllister's house in Home Alone for a second? Like, of COURSE you're going to be a target for Christmas bandits if your house is ENTIRELY Christmas themed! Okay, yes, they have a lot of Christmas decorations up, but that is JUST THE START..."

Claire then proceeded to unpick the colour schemes present in the house, not to mention the furniture and wall decorations too.

She concluded her rant with: "But WORST of all is the kitchen. Red pots, green tiles, red teapot, crimson floors, even a green rolling pin. Guys. We all go to the themed sections of IKEA and get ideas, but you're not supposed to do it in real life.

"Home Alone: Great movie. Decorator's nightmare. Fin."

And it seems her thread really hit a nerve, as many fans of Home Alone are only just beginning to see how full on the McCallister house really was all along:

It's been staring right at you for decades, people!
