Home and Away's Australian fans have been left shocked by the first death of the 2019 season.

Evil villain Ross Nixon lost his life in Wednesday's episode (February 20) on Channel 7, as policeman Colby Thorne took a major turn to the dark side.

Recent episodes in Australia have focused on the reappearance of Colby's villainous stepfather, who ruined his wedding day by kidnapping Chelsea, Bella and Willow.

The high-stakes plot left Willow fighting for her life after a shooting incident out in the woods, but the tables turned when Colby (Tim Franklin) and his best friend Dean Thompson managed to corner Ross.

Although Dean (Patrick O'Connor) urged his mate to do the right thing and let the police deal with Ross, an unusually-ruthless Colby had other ideas and shot him dead.

In the heat of the moment, Colby suggested that Dean should call the police so he could face the consequences, but the pair quickly embarked on a shocking cover-up instead.

After destroying vital evidence by burning Ross's car, Colby and Dean teamed up to bury his body in a shallow grave.

Back at home, Chelsea and Bella were pleased to see the guys back safe and sound, although Chelsea quickly realised that Colby wasn't telling her the full story about his encounter with Ross.

Not believing Colby's claims that Ross simply got away, is it only a matter of time before Chelsea rumbles her new husband?

Home and Away's UK fans will see these scenes on March 13 on Channel 5.

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
