Home and Away spoilers follow for Australian and UK viewers.

Home and Away fans are set to get a big shock, as a familiar character will be found dead.

TV Week reports that one of four Summer Bay residents – Leah Patterson-Baker (Ada Nicodemou), Justin Morgan (James Stewart), Mackenzie Booth (Emily Weir), and Susie McAllister (Bridie Carter) – will meet their demise in upcoming episodes.

The discovery of their washed-up body will "send shockwaves" among everyone else, with show boss Lucy Addario promising a "wild ride" for viewers.

The subsequent investigation will lead to a surprising arrest, as well as the arrival of a new character.

All four characters have been involved in significant storylines this year.

Susie recently fled Summer Bay with Leah and Justin's life savings, after conning the couple. This has led Leah to spend much of her time trying to track Susie down.

But her determination to find the woman that stole from her and Justin comes at a bad time, as her partner is seriously struggling with his painkiller addiction.

"Leah and Justin are not connected at the moment," Ada Nicodemou explains. "She's on her own mission to seek justice to make Susie pay for what she has done. She wants a support system, but Justin isn't there for her and vice versa.

"They're both not communicating with each other about what they need."

Meanwhile, Mackenzie has gone through a difficult time, having been dumped by Ari Parata (who is now in a relationship with Mia Anderson) and then losing their baby after experiencing an ectopic pregnancy. She has been on a downward spiral, which leads to her going missing this week.

Dean Thompson is worried when Mac doesn't pick up her phone and nobody has seen her around, and heads to the police to report her disappearance.
