Home and Away couple Ash and Kat Chapman look set to be torn apart following the latest twist in the ongoing custody battle for baby Luc.
Earlier this month, we revealed that Irene Roberts would be left spooked by some mystery phone calls, which it later transpired were connected to her evil son Mike.
Viewers will know that Mike is the child Irene was forced to give up for adoption as a teenager, but he reappeared in her life last year – with devastating consequences.
Not only did he hold Irene hostage for weeks on end, but he also raped Billie Ashford and is the biological father of her daughter Luc.
Mike will make contact with Irene to announce that he wants visiting rights to Luc as part of his rehabilitation, throwing the youngster's loved ones into turmoil.
Determined to keep his niece away from Mike, Ash starts taking the necessary steps in order to adopt Luc, in a decision that deeply unsettles his girlfriend Kat.
Kat has never been on board with raising Luc in the first place, and the pair have subsequently struggled to find common ground now that Ash's responsibilities have shifted so massively.
Already sensing Kat's apprehension over the adoption, Ash's worst fears are confirmed when the police officer admits that she isn't sure she's ready to commit to Luc for life.
With time against them, Ash gives Kat an ultimatum as he tells her he has a meeting scheduled about the adoption the following week and needs to know her decision by then. But what will Kat decide? And what will this mean for Ash and Luc?
George Mason, who plays Ash, told TV Week: "It's a tough situation. There's an expectation that Kat will step up because she loves Ash, but she doesn't.
"Ash wonders if perhaps they are not destined to be together."
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 in the UK, and Monday to Thursday at 7pm on Network Seven in Australia.
