Home and Away fans will get their first look at a big new storyline for Marilyn Chambers next week.

The fan favourite is about to take centre stage as the long-running soap teases a mystery connection between her and newcomer Heather Fraser.

In upcoming scenes on Channel 5, Marilyn's friend Roo Stewart starts offering one-on-one tutoring services to members of the local community.

One of Roo's first students is Heather, a young woman who is seeking help with putting together an application for law school.

Roo is excited to help Heather and notes how driven she seems. However, she also cautions Heather to ensure she can maintain this motivation in the long-term, as studying law can be demanding.

Heather explains that she has a personal motive for wanting to help people. She reveals that she's particularly interested in supporting mothers who have been separated from their children.

Opening up further, Heather discloses that she has her own heartbreaking experience of being separated from a child.

Heather recalls that she once had an affair with a married man while working as his housekeeper.

The relationship led to Heather discovering that she was pregnant, but shortly after the birth, the man and his wife adopted the child and sent Heather away.

Roo feels terrible for Heather and is pleased to be helping her, but viewers soon learn that she isn't getting the full story.

While at the Diner, Heather takes an unusual interest in Marilyn and secretly takes a photograph of her.

This marks the beginning of a big storyline which will play out on UK screens over the next few weeks.

Home and Away airs these scenes on Friday, September 30 at 1.45pm on Channel 5 and 6pm on 5STAR. First-look screenings air at 6.30pm on 5STAR and the show also streams on My5.
