Yahoo News Home and Away newcomer Maddy Jevic says co-star Ray Meagher surprised her most
Home and Away star Maddy Jevic has opened up about joining the soap, revealing which co-star surprised her the most upon her recent arrival.
The actress has just debuted as Amber, who arrives at Summer Bay and is hired by Marilyn (Emily Symons) to work as John's (Shane Withington) in-home helper following a stroke.
As a long-term fan of the soap, however, Maddy said that one particular star took her by surprise when she met him in person.

"Ray [Meagher]'s really sharp – he is really smart," she told TV Week. "Alf is Alf, but in real life, Ray is just onto it. I was really surprised by his charisma."
She also admitted her excitement at meeting Irene Roberts actress Lynne McGranger, adding: "Because I grew up watching [the show], she was just this familiar beautiful energy. She's like a mum – so down to earth and loving.
"I was like, 'Oh my God, I'm in Summer Bay with Irene!'"

During the chat, Maddy spoke a bit about Amber too, explaining: "She's got foot-in-the-mouth disease. She's very blunt, but she's got this caring, loving, loyal side. She's just a really fun character to play – not one-dimensional at all."
She also addressed filming restrictions in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, revealing that they have now got used to the new measures.
Maddy said: "So many people are there to help us with it all. As actors you have to tell a story at the end of the day, but there's so many people there that are helping us make the right decisions to go about it."
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5, with first look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR.
