Home and Away star Emily Weir says Ari is Mackenzie's best match right now

Home and Away spoilers follow for UK viewers.

Home and Away star Emily Weir has spoken to Digital Spy about Mackenzie Booth's ongoing love triangle, naming Ari Parata as the best match for her character at the moment.

Mackenzie is currently dating Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams) but also has a chemistry with his bad boy brother Tane (Ethan Browne).

A few weeks ago, UK viewers saw Mackenzie come clean to Ari about her feelings for Tane. However, rather than break up, Mackenzie and Ari worked on transitioning their casual fling into a more serious and committed relationship.

Speaking to Digital Spy about how Mackenzie is feeling, Emily explained: "For Ari, the attraction for Mac would be that he provides her with groundings. His energy allows her to feel safe and protected and I guess relaxed, because she can be quite a buzz in the brain, quite a stress head and that's something that really attracts her to his energy.

"But with Tane he's more spicy, sexy, suave, and a cheeky human being that she would usually go for. It's quite a surface level attraction at the beginning, but that cheekiness and 'hard to get' thing she finds very desirable.

"Initially because Mackenzie wasn't in a full committed relationship to Ari, it did make her feel not as guilty than if she were in a fully-fledged committed relationship with him."

Asked which brother is best for Mackenzie, Emily replied: "This is a really tough question! I think for where Mackenzie's at, for what she wants coming off the back of her relationship with Colby, she really wants to be number one in a man's life.

"I think Ari really provides that for her, whereas I think Tane would be a myriad of drama and a bit of chaos. I think for her stress levels Ari, for the time being, is definitely a better match."

Emily also spoke about whether Mackenzie would ever be tempted to betray Ari and act on her feelings for Tane.

She said: "I think morally it gets pretty close, but it really isn't who Mackenzie is or wants to be. She comes from a broken home where cheating, lying and scheming was really prevalent, and she tries to live her life in an honest way.

"Temptation was very high, but I think morally she couldn't cross the line by actually acting on it. She'd be too honest before she did something like that.

"Now things with Ari are more serious, there's definitely a massive chunk of time where Tane is no longer a temptation, where Mac fully commits and goes head over heels for Ari and they pave the way together going forward in a committed, loving relationship."

Meanwhile, this week's episodes on Channel 5 see Mackenzie, Tane and Ari team up to find Nikau Parata and Bella Nixon after they ran away from Summer Bay.

The special scenes were filmed on location in the Blue Mountains and explore a race against time, as Bella needs to be back at the police station for an interview with Angelo Rosetta over Ross's murder.

Emily told us: "Filming these episodes was really incredible. Cinematically it was so different to film there. The weather was so much colder than what we're used to at Palm Beach, but it was wonderful to have a change of pace in a beautiful, open space that is the Blue Mountains.

"It was a different vibe out there and it was great to be on the hunt for Bella and Nikau in this vast terrain.

"Mackenzie really tries to be the grounded one in this situation. Ari and Tane are obviously extremely worried about their nephew.

"Mackenzie likewise is extremely worried about Bella, but she really tries to be the practical one and the logistical one and really tries to rein in all the drama. She tries to keep everyone on track.

"Mackenzie is really thrilled when Ari and Tane put their differences behind them to focus on the search, because the tension between them makes them all get side-tracked from their goal, which is getting Bella and Nikau back safely in time for Bella's police interview. So it's nice to see them make amends for the time being."

Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK) and Mondays to Thursdays at 7pm on Channel 7 (Australia).
