Home and Away star found dead at home aged 43 as fans pay tribute
Former Australian soap star Jai Evans has died, having been found at his Sydney home.
Evans, who was known for his role in the iconic 90s soap Home and Away, later built a successful career in public relations, working with cast members of Married At First Sight. His death was announced on Friday, at the age of 43.
The actor was found in a luxury apartment building in Sydney on Wednesday, and local police have confirmed that a coroner's report will be issued in due course. The cause of death has not yet been revealed, and an exact date of his death has not yet been confirmed, according to OK!
Evans was last seen in public a month ago at a celebrity event with reality stars. Friends of the former TV actor have expressed their shock over his death.
Fitness trainer Daniel Wootton shared a heartfelt message online, writing: "RIP Jai Evans. Another beautiful friend taken much too soon before his time. Your vibrant energy and eagerness to help was second to none. Rest easy, Jai. Love you, mate.", reports the Mirror.
Sydney police confirmed the sad news, stating: "Officers from Kings Cross Police Area Command will prepare a report for the information of the Coroner regarding the death of a 43-year-old man at a unit in Darlinghurst on 4 September 2024. Police will not be making any further comment about the matter."
Jai, remembered for his cameo as a student on Home and Away back in 1997, shifted from the limelight of acting to become a renowned PR expert. He instead carved out an impressive career working with reality TV personalities, including stars from Married At First Sight, aiding them in managing their newfound fame.
He established Evans Media in 2005 at the age of 24, providing media firms and personalities with professional PR guidance and event management consultancy. Over two decades, Jai became noted for his contributions to the industry.
In April, Jai imparted wisdom to MAFs stars aiming to leverage their profile post-show, highlighting: "Talent success is dependent on how well they lead with their heart and not their head. If they are too ego-driven people disengage. Fans are keen to keep up with their off-screen lives and brands are keen to bank on the current season's talent. They can build a personal brand over the proceeding years if they remain true to themselves and authentic to their fanbase."
The sudden announcement of Jai's passing has led to heartfelt tributes. On Instagram, one friend shared: "OMG so sad, Jai was such a nice guy! My condolences go out to his family and friends."
Another expressed: "So sad RIP Jai. Hope you find some peace buddy. Way too young."
