Johnny is of course well known as a singer, having risen to fame as a finalist on the 2011 series of The X Factor Australia.

While he appeared on Home and Away between 2013 and 2016 as Chris Harrington, his life changed in 2017 when he had a 7cm brain tumour removed. He then underwent radiotherapy and chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis.

However, Johnny recently revealed that he was moving back to the small screen after being given the all clear.

"I'm getting back into work... slowly keep kicking on," he announced. "Now that I have the all-clear in the health part of things, I'm going to get back into television, back into acting, might even dip my toe into theatre – if the role is right."

Johnny also credited partner Tahnee Sims for saving his life after urging him to get the check-up that resulted in the tumour diagnosis.

"Without her, I don't think I'd be here today," he explained. "She's phenomenal. She's the most incredible person I've ever met."

Home and Away airs on Channel 5.
