Home and Away newcomer Luke Arnold has teased a possible romantic future for his character Lewis Hayes and Jasmine Delaney.

UK fans are set to meet the new character next week, with Lewis introduced as a former flame of Jasmine's from their university days.

In the intervening years, he was in a happy relationship with partner Anna, who tragically passed away after a car accident – though he blames Christian Green for her death, suspecting him of negligence when she was in his care.

However, Luke has suggested that Lewis and Jasmine may rekindle their romance in upcoming scenes, hinting that he is ready to try a new relationship following Anna's death.

"With anyone else, it would probably be too soon, but the sense of familiarity and care that Jasmine and Lewis have for each other might help Lewis move on," he said. "I think he's ready to try, but he'll have to let go of some emotions that he's still holding onto."

Elaborating on the pair's history, Luke added: "They were good mates who hooked up in their university days. It might have gone further if Lewis hadn't met Anna. The three of them continued to be friends but lost touch after uni.

"Lewis and Jasmine are two people who have always had a connection, took different paths, but have now been gifted a second chance."

Speaking of Lewis's headspace when he arrives, the star further explained: "Lewis is taking his first steps towards finding his new 'normal' when he bumps into Jasmine. He's only recently gone back into the workforce and daring to imagine a future for himself. He's been floating for a while, and Jasmine offers him a place to land."
