Home and Away star Sarah Roberts opens up over dealing with grief

From Digital Spy

Home and Away star Sarah Roberts has spoken about the heartbreaking loss of her brother to brain cancer, and going through two miscarriages before full-term.

The Willow Harris actress explained that she is living with her grief, but is taking steps to ensure it doesn't take over.

Speaking to Australia's TV Week, she said: "You never 'move on' from a loss like that. You move forward and you always carry it in your heart, but I can now reflect on myself.

"I've been through a lot this past year; I need to take a minute. I really miss my mum and my sister – and my brother, of course – but I just want to be with my family. I want to find myself again."

She credited her co-star and husband James Stewart as being her "rock" through an extremely challenging time, stating: "I'm so grateful to have him – I couldn't ask for a better husband. Jimmy and I have been through a lot in our first year of marriage. We've grown together and learned things from each other."

The star previously opened up about her heartbreak in an open letter, and has now shared that she was overwhelmed by the response from the public.

"I felt I was helping others by sharing my story and not making [miscarriage] a taboo subject," she said. "Statistically, it's very common. But everyone feels differently too, and a lot of people prefer to keep that private, which is fine as well."

Home and Away airs on Channel 5 in the UK.
