Home and Away star Sophie Dillman "cried every day" filming exit

Home and Away star Sophie Dillman has opened up on what it was like to film her final scenes in Summer Bay, revealing that she cried daily on set.

This week has seen the Ziggy Astoni actress addressing her impending departure from the show, alongside real-life partner Patrick O'Connor (Dean Thompson).

"It was really hard, I’m not gonna lie," Dillman told Yahoo Lifestyle. "I cried probably every day for the last month of work. It is such a big family.

"It was really, really hard. But also, it was really wonderful because you get to look at it from the outside and really appreciate all the incredible opportunities you’ve had."

Reflecting on her time on the soap, as well as her relationship with co-stars, Dillman added that she had formed close relationships with the rest of the cast.

"I know it’s cliche to say, but everyone is so humble," she said. "Everyone is working towards a common goal, and everyone wants everyone to succeed. And I don’t know whether I will ever find that in a workplace ever again."

Dillman shocked viewers last week when she and partner Patrick O'Connor confirmed they would be leaving the soap after several months of speculation over their future.

The pair joined as Ziggy Astoni and Dean Thompson in 2017 and 2018 respectively, with their on-screen relationship also blossoming into a real-life romance.

The pair previously opened up about their decision to leave the soap, explaining that they both felt they had explored all possibilities with their characters.

"It's a huge commitment and a massive chunk of my life. I felt I changed into six different people in the time we were there. There's a lot of growth both as an actor and a person. It's a great place to work, but I was ready [to move on]," O'Connor told TV Week.

Ziggy and Dean are currently set to become parents, with the emotional storyline seemingly paving the way for the pair to exit Summer Bay.
