Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou has explained why she never quit the soap for Hollywood.

The actress, who has been in the Australian soap since 2000, says she "never chased the Hollywood" dream because she wanted to focus on being a mother, having given birth to seven-year-old Johnas back in 2012.

Speaking to The Telegraph, she said: "I always wanted to bring up children here. I always wanted to be a mum. I never chased the Hollywood dream.

"Although now I reassess and go, 'Was it because I was scared that I wasn't going to make it?' But I don't want to go waiting on tables. It doesn't interest me. I am really happy with where I am at."

Ada also revealed how she once told former co-star Chris Hemsworth 'not to get his hopes up' when he left the soap to become a major Hollywood star.

"You might not make it... so don't get your hopes up!" she told him. Of course, Hemsworth went on to become one of the biggest earners in entertainment after being cast as Marvel's Thor.

Home and Away returns to Channel 5 on Monday, January 6 at 1.15pm and 6pm.
