Home Bargains shoppers think they have found a cheaper alternative to a £970 item. The retailer first opened in Liverpool and is known for selling food, household items and accessories.

One item proving popular at the moment is a canvas available in its store. The artwork depicts a vast rural landscape against a cloudy backdrop.

It was pickled up by Sophie Higgs, who showcases homeware products and interior design under the handle @home_by_the_cloud. She shared a video of the canvas, claiming it’s similar to a painting called Cotton Candy Clouds by McGee & Co., a prestigious homeware store.

McGee & Co.'s canvas is currently on sale for $1,194, which is around £970. The product description reads: “Cotton candy clouds graze over this serene lake scene in this piece for a creative play on colour. With warm tones juxtaposed against cool greens and blues, it lends a soft dimension to your entryway vignette.”

Sophie is more than happy with her Home Bargains canvas though. She said: “I know we're only in January, but I think I'm gonna have to call this out as the bargain of the year.

"This absolutely stunning picture was £12.99 from Home Bargains, but there's really similar ones on the studio McGee website for over £900.”

Home Bargains shared the video on its own Instagram page and in the accompanying caption added: “Home Bargains said: “Who else has spotted our gorgeous canvases in store?”

Many in the comments section also praised the canvas. One said: “Managed to get one today, love it.” Another said: “Love it!” A third said: “Love this.”
