It’s a home fit for a prince - or, perhaps, Prince. The colour purple reigns supreme in Gina Kitchenham’s house after she spent six years painting the suburban semi.

It now has a sitting room and bathroom in lilac, and a dining room and kitchen in plum.

Even the crockery fits the theme, stored inside kitchen units in violet.

Gina, 48, who has purple hair and a car to match, admitted her three children refused to have their bedrooms painted, scuppering her dream to cover every inch of the five-bedroom house.

The care home manager, who lives there with her mother Aileen, said: “Right from being a child, I have loved purple. I think it’s because my mum loves the colour. Of course the new owners will be able to put their own stamp on it.”

The home in Bexleyheath is on sale at £550,000 through Purplebricks (of course), an online estate agent which charges an upfront fee rather than commission.
