New homes and barbers shop proposal - latest Solihull planning applications
The conversion of an office into nine new homes has taken another step forward. The applicant was given permission to convert Oakfield House in Station Road, Dorridge, in October.
Permission was granted by Solihull planners despite objections from neighbours including noise, highway safety and questioning whether residential use was appropriate for the site. But Solihull Council planning officers said they had found “no adverse impacts” that “significantly and demonstrably outweigh the significant benefits”.
Planners gave permission subject to conditions. The applicant later applied to sign off a preparatory condition which features in the planning permission agreement.

The application, made in October, was to formally ‘discharge’ condition 9 (the demolition and construction management plan). Solihull Council approved that latest application on November 9.
Meanwhile Leeds Building Society has applied for a new design and projection sign on the front of its building in Mill Lane, Solihull. The application, submitted on October 25, is currently in a consultation period.
