Homes evacuated as 'suspicious package' found in Leeds street
People were evacuated and a road closed on Saturday after police received reports of a "suspicious package" in Moortown.
Officers raced to the scene and army officials were deployed following the report of the package that was found on Harrogate Road, close to the roundabout with the A6120 ring road.
A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said road closures were put in place and a number of nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution, but the package - which was a plastic bag and a military-style metal container - was examined and found to be non-suspicious.
