Homes Under The Hammer views have been left wowed after a nearly 100-year-old bungalow in Nottingham was transformed into a modern home. BBC viewers were treated to a new episode of the property show on Thursday, October 17 as season 27 continued to bring new properties to the screen.

Presenter Dion Dublin headed to Nottingham to view a run-down bungalow which needed a lot of love and money investing in it. The two-bedroom bungalow in Woodthorpe had a few unusual finds around it, such as a record player, a mangle, and even some stairs, which left viewers just as puzzled as Dion.

He said: "And we've got stairs, ok why have we got stairs? Stairs leading to.. I don't know where the stairs are leading to as I thought this was a bungalow."

The former footballer went up the mystery stairs and found a large room. Giggling as he stepped into the room, Dion said: "I wasn't expecting all this space. I think this place could be a four-bed house."

Dion saw a lot of "potential" in the property, despite it not having central heating, needing new floors, rewiring, replastering, new kitchens and new bathrooms. The property was sold at auction on May 25, 2023 for £253,000 to Andy, an experienced developer who does it part-time.

Andy, who works full-time in sales and also plays in two bands, shared his plans for the property, but it was a big to do list and viewers were not sure how he was going to pull it off.

He wanted to turn "the worst house on the street" into something incredible. He had a budget of £75,000 to £100,000 and a timescale of six to eight months.

10 months later the show returned to the property to find it had completely been transformed from top to bottom in a "staggering transformation" and was now a five-bedroom house. Andy shared that he took it all back to brick throughout the whole house, removed fireplaces, installed new bathrooms and made lots of other changes.

He was able to retain the original staircase, but viewers jaws dropped when he stepped into the kitchen, which was incredibly spacious and modern. Andy joked: "The problem is, is this a family home or is it a party house.

"That's where I'm not sure what to do, do I rent it, do I sell it or do I move in." There were two more bedrooms upstairs, and one of them had an incredible floor-to-ceiling window, which looked out into the newly cleared and landscaped garden.

Many of the original features were removed, but Andy reassured viewers that he did not just throw them away. He said: "All of the windows and doors did go to another home, I didn't just skip them, they did go to someone else who wanted to buy them and hopefully they have been reused somewhere else."

If the property was to go on the market it would sell in the region of £450,000 to £480,000. Or he could rent it for around £1,500 to £1,700 per calendar month.
