Honduran Red Cross Rescues 85-Year-Old Man From Iota Floodwaters

Honduran officials and volunteers worked this week to rescue and assist residents in areas flooded by Hurricane Iota, which made landfall in Nicaragua on November 16 before moving north into Honduras.

At least 38 people were killed in Central America by the storm, according to local reports.

Footage from the region showed extensive damage to homes, washed away roads and bridges, and flooding that inundated the international airport in San Pedro Sula, Honduras’s second largest city. The airport was flooded for the second time this month, after deluges caused by Hurricane Eta in early November.
