Hong Kong Musicians Perform Protest Anthem at Mei Foo Community Concert

Local musicians organized a community concert in Hong Kong’s Lai Chi Kok Park on November 26 where songs from the musical Les Misérables were performed, along with protest songs.

This footage, shared by local translator Karen Tse, shows a crowd of people waving lights on their phones and singing along to “Glory to Hong Kong,” which was reportedly composed in August by an anonymous local musician and has since become an anthem for the Hong Kong’s pro-democracy movement.

The musicians also performed Les Misérables’ “Do You Hear the People Sing,” another popular song among protesters. Credit: Karen Tse via Storyful
