A teenage boy was stabbed three times and another beaten by a gang armed with baseball bats in an unprovoked attack.

The two boys, both 16 years old, were in Billet Road, Hornchurch, on Thursday, February 23 when the gang approached them and began the brutal attack.

The gang were completely unknown to the boys, police said.

Both teenagers were rushed to hospital and have since been discharged.

One of the boys suffered minor injuries having been hit by a baseball bat and the other was stabbed three times as well as being assaulted, a Met spokesman said.

Detectives are keen to identify three vehicles that were spotted on nearby CCTV, which appear to be a white Fiat Punto, a silver, grey or light blue five-door Vauxhall Astra and a silver, gold or light blue five-door Ford Fiesta.

It is believed the drivers may have witnessed the attack.
