Horror hit-and-run crash caught on CCTV sees biker thrown into the air

A motorcyclist has survived a dramatic collision after crashing into a van in north east London.

In video footage, the motorcyclist is seen travelling down Upper Clapton Road on Wednesday evening before crashing into the side of a van which was turning right.

After smashing into the silver van, the motorcyclist is thrown into the air before landing heavily on his back.

Two men who had been in the van exit the vehicle and flee the scene.

Visibly dazed from the incident, the man manages to stand up before being helped by onlookers.

Police confirmed they were called to the incident at approximately 11.45pm on Wednesday together with the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service.

The statement read: “The motorcyclist, a man aged in his 20s, was taken to hospital with a head injury.

“His condition was assessed as not life-threatening.”

Police confirmed that the two men in the van “left the scene” and enquiries are ongoing to locate the pair.

“Two men, who are thought to have been in the van, were reported to have left the scene before officers arrived”, the statement added.

“No arrests have been made.”
