A person was rushed to hospital after a reported crash on a 'rat run' road in Stockport on Monday evening (June 10). Emergency services descended on the scene on Osborne Street, in Bredbury, at around 5.20pm.

An air ambulance was also scrambled to the scene and landed in a nearby field. It was reported that a car had been ploughed into a number of other vehicles.

Residents have since blasted the way drivers use the residential street as a 'cut through' and 'rat run'. The road was taped off for a number of hours with a huge cordon in place amid investigations.

One vehicle appeared to have been knocked into a shop front as police tape was also erected around a number of other cars. Further details about the incident have not yet been confirmed by Greater Manchester Police.

Several residents said the roads in the area are used regularly as a ‘cut through', but were shocked by the scale of the crime scene and police presence.

One 51-year-old local man said he returned from holiday today to find police swarming the street he has lived on for 23 years. “It’s dreadful, absolutely dreadful. There’s been nothing to this extent," he said.

His neighbour said: “There’s a lot of cut-throughs. It’s a rat run.”

There were reports among neighbours at the scene that one of the cars involved in the crash was stolen and had been driven into a parked car - but this has yet to be confirmed by police.

An air ambulance was seen leaving the scene just after 7.15pm having landed in Daisyfield Recreation Ground, known locally as The Daisy.
