Queen of the Jungle Scarlett Moffatt may have made her first solo presenting gig on Channel 4's Host the Week last week, but that's the first and last appearance of that show we'll ever see.

Just like ITV's similarly-formatted The Nightly Show, Host the Week was pitched as a new entertainment show that would see a different celebrity present the programme each week, only it was also unrehearsed and unscripted and soon proved to be unsuccessful too.

Scarlett's stint as host drew just 400,000 viewers when it aired last Thursday (June 22), and Channel 4 has now axed the programme before the next scheduled host can step up to the mark.

We bet Jack Whitehall's gutted.

According to The Sun, Channel 4 has now made the decision to not go ahead with any more filming on the series, meaning Jack Whitehall's planned stint as host for the show's second episode has now been cancelled too.

"We're brave enough to take risks with innovative programme ideas but also to acknowledge they don't all work and move on," a Channel 4 spokeswoman said in a statement.

Host the Week's first episode saw Scarlett perform a sketch with Channel 4 newsreader Krishnan Guru-Murthy, interview Steps, and even bag a kiss from her childhood crush – Blue's Duncan James.

But it looks like ITV won this particular new entertainment style format – which, in this case, isn't really saying much.
