Warner Bros has released the first trailer for star-studded thriller Hotel Artemis and it's basically a future-set John Wick.

Written and directed by Iron Man 3 writer Drew Pearce, Hotel Artemis takes place in a members-only hospital hidden inside a hotel in Los Angeles exclusively for criminals (ringing any bells?) and is set in 2028.

It even has its own set of rules, like not killing each other on the premises.

Set across one night, Hotel Artemis sees the safest place for criminals become the most dangerous when a legendary crime boss shows up for immediate treatment, creating a violent clash among the criminals there, with one having a deadly motive for checking in.

Jodie Foster, Jeff Goldblum, Sterling K Brown, Sofia Boutella, Dave Bautista, Zachary Quinto and Charlie Day make up the seriously impressive cast.

The set-up of Hotel Artemis's world echoes that of The Continental in John Wick, a hotel that acts as a safe haven for all kinds of assassins, with severe consequences for anyone who breaks those rules.

It's unlikely, of course, but for all we know, Hotel Artemis could turn out to be a secret spin-off of John Wick, although The Continental is based in New York City.

And anyway, that has its own spin-off TV series coming.

Hotel Artemis is released in UK cinemas on July 20.
