Hotmail down: Outlook users still struggling to send emails despite Microsoft saying service is fixed

Outlook users are still experiencing problems after the email service suffered a major outage yesterday.

Microsoft’s health site claims the issues, which first emerged yesterday morning, have been fixed.

However, people are still complaining about not being able to use the service properly.

According to DownDetector, the situation isn’t as bad as it was yesterday, but problems persist in parts of the UK and Europe.

Users say they’ve had trouble logging in, and some are unable to send emails or download attachments from messages they’ve received.

Microsoft’s health site currently says, “Everything is up and running”, and displays a green circle with a tick alongside Outlook.

An update from earlier today reads, “We've verified that new mails are being sent and received as expected, and the previous queue has returned to normal.

“A very small number of messages sent during the incident may be delivered over the next few hours as the last remaining messages are processed.”

The @Outlook Twitter account, which was busy replying to irate users for much of yesterday, appears to have gone quiet too.

At the time of writing, its last update referencing the outage was posted more than five hours ago.

More recent posts from the account address a user’s issue with an Outlook feature, and encourage people to provide feedback on support.
