Hounslow burglar caught using repeated method to break into homes while families on holiday
A Hounslow burglar who travelled eight miles to ransack homes in Slough has been caught and jailed. Owen Piggot, aged 24, left two homes in a messy state when he raided them over 10 days.
Piggot, of Norman Crescent, Hounslow, was sentenced to two years and two months’ in jail at Aylesbury Crown Court on 20 January after he pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary. Piggot stole cash and jewellery worth hundreds of pounds from each home.
On June 2 last year, he burgled a home on London Road, in Slough, at about 7.05pm with the victim being alerted by a neighbour. They were on holiday at the time and their neighbour messaged to say they had spotted the back door to their home had been forced open.

They returned from holiday the following day and discovered that the electric cupboard had been damaged, the back door panel had been removed and a messy search had been carried out upstairs. Piggot had stolen a quantity of cash and some jewellery worth around £350.
Burglaries have a 'lasting impact on victims'
Then 10 days later, on June 12, he targeted a home on Ives Road, in Slough. The victim returned home at around 6pm and discovered that the door to the rear of their property had been damaged and a messy search had been carried out at the property. Piggot had stolen a large quantity of cash, and an assortment of necklaces, earrings and rings worth £200.
Piggot was arrested and charged on 22 September last year. Investigating officer, Detective Constable Sikander Channa said: “Burglary is a serious acquisitive crime that greatly affects our communities and can have a lasting impact on victims.
“I’m glad that Thames Valley Police we able to provide some closure for the victims and give our local communities reassurance that we are committed to tackling such crime. This conviction and sentence reflects the severity and seriousness with which these offences are taken, and is a warning that these type of offences will not be tolerated.”
