Hour-by-hour forecast as Leicestershire faces freezing temperatures

Temperatures are set to hover around freezing across Leicestershire today with forecasters warning of a bitter weekend ahead. The Met Office has said parts of the county will experience temperatures that feel as low as -1C, with cloudy and dull conditions expected throughout the day.

Forecasters say today (Saturday January 18) will remain generally dry but cloudy across the region. The Met Office said temperatures would struggle to rise above 4C across the county.

The cold conditions are set to continue into tonight, with temperatures feeling close to freezing and the possibility of slight frost developing in some areas. The Met Office has warned of continuing cloudy conditions into the evening.

The cold snap has led health chiefs to issue a cold weather alert for the region, warning that the cold temperatures could have "significant impacts" across health and social care services.
