A 15-hour weather warning for snow and ice comes into force tonight. It covers Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, and Cheshire East and runs until 10am on Tuesday 19 November.

It comes as the Met Office is predicting snow across North Staffordshire overnight. In addition an amber alert has been issued until Saturday for cold weather.

Staffordshire County Council has its 38 gritters out on the roads overnight - for the first time this winter. They will be boosted by hill contractors who cover the six remotest gritting routes in the Staffordshire Moorlands.
