Hour-by-hour Stoke-on-Trent forecast as 'heavy snow' coming

Forecasters are predicting nine hours of snowfall across Stoke-on-Trent tonight. The Met Office has snow falling from 4pm this afternoon - with bouts of 'heavy snow' at 6pm and between 11pm and 1am.

The BBC forecast is more optimistic with just 'light snow' between 7pm and 8pm and then midnight and 1am.

It comes as a yellow weather warning for snow and ice remains in place for Stoke-on-Trent until 10am on Friday.

The warning states: "Wintry showers and icy patches are expected this evening and overnight, perhaps leading to some travel disruption. Some roads are likely to be affected by longer journey times by road, bus and train. There will probably be some icy patches on untreated roads and pavements and injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces."
