House of the Dragon Tops Nielsen Top 10 Chart for First Time Ever

House of the Dragon topped Nielsen’s overall U.S. streaming ranking for the week of July 8 — and for the first time ever.

With the release of Season 2’s fifth episode in the last hours of the measurement period, the HBO series amassed nearly 1.3 billion minutes viewed across 15 available episodes, rising two spots to claim No. 1 on the overall chart.

Disney+’s Bluey placed second with nearly 1.1 billion minutes viewed, followed by last week’s No. 2, Suits (1.07 billion minutes viewed on Netflix and Peacock).

Over on Nielsen’s ranking of streaming originals, Prime Video’s The Boys rose to the No. 1 spot with 1.05 billion minutes viewed across 31 available episodes. It was followed by Love Island (a billion minutes viewed for 203 episodes across Hulu, Netflix and Peacock), Hulu’s The Bear (781 million minutes/28 available episodes), Netflix’s Desperate Lies (581 million minutes/17 episodes) and Netfix’s Receiver (559 million minutes/eight episodes).

Rounding out the Top 10 originals for the week of July 8 were five Netflix programs: Vikings: Valhalla, Bridgerton, Supacell, The Mole and Stranger Things.
