House Votes to Impeach President Donald Trump for Second Time

The US House of Representatives voted to impeach President Donald Trump on Wednesday, January 13, accusing him of inciting the deadly riot that occurred at the US Capitol and making him the only president in history to have been impeached twice.

House Democrats passed a resolution Tuesday night calling upon Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment, assuming the office of the presidency and removing Trump from office before the inauguration. Pence said in a letter to Speaker Nancy Pelosi that he did not support the action.

Lawmakers met Wednesday to debate and vote on the resolution, voting 232 to 197 in favor of impeachment. Ten House Republicans voted to impeach.
