New housing development to include affordable homes

The houses are being built at Bellway’s new Forest Walk development in Lydney and have all been carefully designed to reflect the architecture of the surrounding area. The build shall also meet the needs of those in the local market, with 30 of the properties designated as affordable homes for local people

Images have been released of what the houses in a development in Gloucestershire are set to look like. The computer generated pictures show designs for some of the 200 houses in a forthcoming Forest of Dean estate.

The houses are being built at Bellway’s new Forest Walk development in Lydney and have all been designed to reflect the architecture of the surrounding area. Thirty of the properties designated as affordable homes for local people.

The properties for sale will be three and four-bedroom houses in styles from the homebuilder’s Artisan Collection. The homebuilder plans to include architectural features found commonly in the area such as dormer windows, bay windows, and chimneys.

The energy-efficient homes at the development have been designed with solar panels and electric vehicle charging points, and the latest images show how they might look when construction is complete. Forest Walk is part of a wider project of 320 properties, which has outline planning permission for employment land and a new neighbourhood centre. Bellway is set to invest £2.9 million in education, roads and other services as part of the planning agreement for this scheme.

Daniel Shone, Head of Sales for Bellway, said: “Sustainability is at the heart of our plan for Forest Walk. It runs through A house with solar panels on the roof. The wider project has been planned to feature employment land and a neighbourhood centre, so it will support sustainability in terms of economic, social and community activity too.

“The designs of the properties are contemporary and of high quality and they have been selected to complement and fit seamlessly with the local area. Our new computer-generated pictures show how that will look at Forest Walk, in the street scenes and homes we have planned.”

The development will feature natural open spaces and a green corridor leading through the site from the north to south opening onto a large area of parkland. There will be a mix of red brick and light render walls and slate grey or black roof tiles to reflect the character of properties in the town. The design also takes inspiration from the local architecture by using gable-fronted buildings and dormer windows to create a varied roofscape.

Prices at Forest Walk currently start from £289,995 for a three-bedroom semi-detached house in Bellway’s Turner house style. To find out more about Forest Walk, please visit here or call the sales team on 01594 480035
