Housing leader appointed to shape future of North Devon communities
North Devon Homes is pleased to announce the appointment of John Creswell as Chair of the Board.
John, an experienced non-executive director, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the role, having served on the North Devon Homes Board since May 2023. He has a strong background in housing and community regeneration and over the course of his career, has held significant executive roles and advised Local Authority bodies, Government Agencies, and Charitable Trusts as a consultant. His understanding of customer-facing organisations, combined with his passion for community-focused initiatives, aligns perfectly with North Devon Homes' mission to create communities where people want to live.
Speaking about his appointment, John said, "I am honoured to take on the role of Chair at North Devon Homes. Since joining the Board, I have seen firsthand the team’s dedication to delivering excellent services and supporting communities across North Devon. I look forward to working closely with my fellow Board members and the leadership team to ensure the successful delivery of our three-year Corporate Plan and to continue building communities where people want to live."

John brings extensive Housing Association board experience, having recently completed a full term with the Citizen Housing Group in the West Midlands. He is also currently a board member at GreenSquareAccord Housing Group, which operates across Wiltshire, Somerset, and the West Midlands.
John added, "I believe the priorities set out in the Corporate Plan—Value, Safety, Customer, Accountability, and Local—are fundamental to creating thriving, sustainable communities. These principles resonate deeply with me, and I am eager to play my part in helping North Devon Homes deliver on its promises to its customers."
Now retired from full-time employment, John is committed to using his skills and experience to support mission-driven organisations and is well-positioned to lead the organisation in delivering the corporate plan priorities for the benefit of customers and communities.
John shared his excitement for the future, saying, "North Devon is a unique and special place, and I am passionate about ensuring that our work makes a lasting difference for the people who live here. Whether it’s improving homes, supporting families, or fostering a sense of community, I am committed to driving positive change.”
He succeeds Colin Dennis, who after a successful period as Chair, is stepping down to focus on his other non-executive roles.
