How Louis Tomlinson Made A Nine-Year-Old Cancer Patient’s Last Months Magical

It is well-known among One Direction fans that Louis Tomlinson is a patron or ambassador for a whole load of charities and spends a whole lot of his time (and money) doing whatever he can to help those less fortunate than him.

However, as the star’s mum revealed in an emotional Twitter post last week, Louis opts out of the majority of press coverage surrounding his good deeds, meaning that his charitable nature is unknown by the wider public.

Until now that is.

Sarah Hext is the mother of one of the children who the 24-year-old singer has helped during his time in the spotlight, and following a load of negative press she decided to speak up and shed some light on Louis’ true nature - and be warned, you might need a few tissues for this one.

Sarah is the mother of twin boys, Harvey and Spencer, who were born in 2006 with Down Syndrome. Just before their fifth birthday Harvey was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a very aggressive form of childhood cancer.

In December 2014, Sarah took her twins and their big sister, Olivia, to a Believe In Magic party at London Zoo, where Louis’ mother, Johannah Deakin [Jay], was representing her son as he had work commitments.

Speaking to The Inquisitr, Sarah shared: “Jay came over and introduced herself and I think Harvey and Spencer stole her heart there and then. Only a twin mum can really understand the impact that losing one twin could have on a family and of course Jay having two sets of twins made her fully qualified to understand my fears.”

Jay kept in touch with the family and in August they were all invited to be Louis’ guests at the Cinderella Ball held at the Natural History Museum in London.

Whilst touring the world with One Direction, Louis arranged for the family to stay at a fancy hotel, got the twins Ralph Lauren suits and even gifted Olivia a made-to-measure silk dress.

At the party, Louis and his bandmate, Liam Payne, took the time to speak with every child and it was widely reported that between them, the boys had donated a whopping £5million that night alone - but the magic didn’t stop there for Harvey and his family.

Later in the year, Louis arranged for the Hexts to spend time at Disneyland Paris, with his own family joining them for the final days.

Sarah recalled: “Disney was Harvey’s favourite place. There were about 10 Believe in Magic family’s who went and the kids were given a suitcase each full of beautiful clothes, we stayed in The Pink Palace hotel which is just stunning, everything was taken care of.”

Louis also arranged One Direction tickets for their show in London, leaving special gifts of microphones on the boys’ beds at the Kensington Hotel, as well as treating Olivia to some “girly” presents.

“Louis’ PA called to tell us all the arrangements and Louis sent a car to take us to the show. We went backstage to meet Louis and the rest of the boys,” Sarah shared, “Louis even arranged for us to have the ‘green room’ if it all got too much for the boys.

“It didn’t, the boys loved it and Harvey spent the evening singing into his microphone.”

He then sent a car to take the whole family to a Believe In Magic party in Hamley’s toy store.

Sadly, Harvey passed away at the end of November last year, with Louis marking the tragic news by sharing a photo of the little boy alongside the caption: “Fly high buddy x”.

Sarah explained: “When it became clear that Harvey didn’t have long left Jay came to visit us at home with Louis’ sisters Daisy and Phoebe. The girls played with Harvey and Spencer all day and Louis sent Olivia a beautiful Pandora bracelet along with a huge stack of toys for the boys.

“Louis and Jay have given us precious memories with Harvey and all of our children and that is priceless, we have so many beautiful photos of Harvey to look back on in some amazing places!”

And Louis’ support for the family still hasn’t stopped, with the star offering to treat them all with a holiday to Centre Parcs when they feel ready.

And why did Sarah choose to come forward with her story now?

“People don’t know the real Louis, Jay has told me that when Louis suffers a bad press day he says to her ‘come on mum, lets make someone happy today.’”, she shared, “That’s the kind of man Louis is.

“Louis Tomlinson is very grounded, he is family orientated and both Louis and Jay hold a very special place in my family’s hearts.”
