We’ve always wondered how much those Gogglebox chaps got paid for sitting on their bum for twelve house a week – and thanks to I’m A Celebrity star Scarlett Moffatt, we’re now able to find out how far their budget stretches.
Turns out, not that much.
According to The Sun, an insider said that each of the families taking
part are handed a monthly family allowance of £1,500.
The amount is then split amongst contributing family members at their own discretion.
However – they do get takeaways included, so it’s not all bad.
Scarlett revealed that she’s been able to pay off her parent’s mortgage – though not with that £1,500 fee of course. Speaking to Wayne Bridge in the jungle, she said: “I paid off their mortgage off their house for them.”
“Oh, it was the best.
“I just wrote them a letter and said, thanks for being mint, and sorry for leaving fake tan all over the house, and then I put a cheque in for them.”
She also has plans to spoil them further, after topping the bestsellers list with her autobiography this year and securing a gig as a host for Capital North West.
She said: “My aim is to be able to buy me mam and dad a caravan.
“Cause they’ve always wanted one, but they are like £20,000, and I really want to be able to buy them one.
“And that’s the dream, everyone wants to be able to look after their mama and dad, like they did when they were younger.
She’s also expected to make £70,000 from appearing in the jungle – and could make even more than that if she then goes on to win the show.
